I Miss

image

I miss the scent of ripened guavas
Mixed with the pungent sea
Of musty scented air
Stirred by swaying palm tree
I miss the scent of sweet papayas
Mingled with tuna poke
I miss the sounds of drums
And  rain falling from my hands
I miss the sounds of hums
And rhythmic murmuring sands
I miss the black, black sand
And the ukulele band
That made my awapuhi lei
Smell sweeter still
I miss where Laka dances
To the beat of Lono’s rain
I miss the sounds of the bay
Where the fishes play
Oh, my Hawaiian idyll
I have missed  you too much!
I long for the day
I sleep among your trees
And swim again in your ocean…
